Main Nursery Room

Main Nursery Room

Our main large hall is for children aged two years to five years. We use a mixture of adult-led and child-led activities within our day to day routine. We have lots of children’s choice to develop children’s confidence and independence within the nursery.

We believe routine is very important within the setting, as having a routine allows children to be aware of what is going to happen next. We use a visual timetable to support this which builds children’s confidence. Children self-register with their own pictured magnet at morning and afternoon register. They enjoy singing good morning, good afternoon, please and thank you and wash our hands songs throughout the day.

We have a key worker system which helps children to settle in quickly and form a trusting, safe bond. The keyworker is responsible for the child’s learning journal and monthly individual plans. All children are supported in developing their learning at their own individual pace.

We follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum which helps the children to progress through the framework to prepare them ready for school. We do a letters and sounds phonics programme which supports speaking and listening skills before moving on to exploring sounds, rhymes and jolly phonic letter sounds.
